The steel hull appears in very good condition from the inside, we could not see any rust. Approx 3 months ago, hull was stripped back to bare steel (keel to waterline) to remove build up of antifoul. Hull described as damage free, rust and corrosion free – like new (inside hull is “dry”). New antifoul is “International”. Vessels’ best feature is its stability and its seakeeping qualities. Hector Gough design. Built Gough Bro’s, Invercargill.


All steel vessel ex West Arm power station. Deck is steel but with an oak timber overlay.
Keel was originally built with an adjustable centreboard, but removed by Gough Bros after she proved rock steady in southern waters – sometimes in atrocious weather conditions.
Wheelhouse windows are armoured glass.


Wheelhouse/helm station aft – go down from wheelhouse to engine room below. Separately go down from wheelhouse from very large main saloon comprising galley and seating for 20 odd people – diesel heater keeps the whole boat warm – then go forward to toilet/shower on starboard side and forward again to 2 x berths in focsle. Anchor chain locker and collision bulkhead.

Main Engine

Gardner 6LXB. Has ran 10,000 hours. This Gardner is hardly run in and runs beautifully. Head height in engine room is restricted to approximately 4ft. Estimate of cruise speed and rev’s under power alone – 7.5/8 knots at 1000RPM.


Gardiner on 2:1 reduction. Oil filled stern tube.


Yanmar drives small alternator.


3 x blade.


Fuel – 3,000 litres – 2x tanks port and starboard under main saloon – total fuel in those two tanks 1,500 litres. Plus 2x tanks aft, total estimated fuel in those tanks, 1,500 litres.
Water – 2,000 litres in 2x tanks aft.

New solid steel keel (probably full of lead).
2 x brand new window wipers.
New switchboard – new wiring.
Brand new house and starting batteries.

Ketch Rig

She is ketch rigged with 2 x mains, 1 x stays’l, 1 x jib, Masport winches. Vessel was last sailed Easter 2018. Sails described as good and virtually unused. Sail covers are new. The masts are alloy and all rigging is stainless steel.

Deck Gear

Inflatable boat with Yamaha 15hp outboard. Hydraulic anchor winch. Mechanical steering.

Radios and Nav Aids

Almost all navaids are new by Raymarine 2 x brand new Raymarine computers combining;
Auto pilot – Ray Marine ST6002. Compass – (brand new) Suunto.
VHF’s x 2 – Ray Marine.
The vendor has recently upgraded the navigation aids and rewired much of the vessel – new switchboard – all at a total cost of $80,000.


Galley – all rimu interior joinery by Goomes, Stewart Island. English diesel stove with electric start. Full sized oven & stove top. Up top in the wheelhouse there is a small deep freeze. Bathroom consists of toilet with shower over and small basin.
Berths 6 x singles. 4 in main saloon and 1x double and 1x single in focsle. Masses of head height everywhere.


Was a live-aboard for port maintenance at Stewart Island.
Over the last 10 years – only been to sea 10 times.
